The Etzel-Best family ancestors came to the U.S. in the later part of the 19th Century. The Etzels came from Pfeifer, Russia where they lived for about 100 years, before leaving in the mid-1870s for Topeka, KS. Flora Brownlee Best had emigrated from Scotland with her parents. She married James Martin Best, who was born in Beaver Falls, PA. They moved to Dover, KS. Their son, Robert James Best, married Margaret Ann McCoy in 1902. Her father, John McCoy, was from Ireland.
